Oil and gas fields in Indonesia, the majority of which are mature, require more complex management and operation than newly discovered fields. Furthermore, new oil and gas fields are often located in remote areas or deep seas, thus requiring complex handling and management. Similarly, gas field development requires certainty in gas purchase contracts, necessitating macroeconomic thinking that is heavily influenced by the global economy.
This requires experts, professionals, and managers who are capable of planning and implementing oil and gas recovery enhancement technologies and possess up-to-date knowledge of the macro environment for field management.

In addition to in-house training provided by the companies where they work, further understanding and knowledge related to the aforementioned issues are still required.
To meet the need for these experts, professionals, and managers, the Faculty of Geotechnical and Energy Technology at USAKTI established a Master’s Program in Petroleum Engineering.
Initially, the Master’s Program in Petroleum Engineering was established under the Postgraduate Program at Trisakti University. Later, the Master’s Program in Petroleum Engineering was incorporated under the Faculty of Geotechnical and Energy Technology. The government’s trust through BAN-PT was issued through an Accreditation Certificate with an Accreditation rating of B on December 29, 2015 with the number 1263/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/M/XII/2015. As clearly stated on the certificate sheet, the validity period of the accreditation rating is valid for 5 (five) years from the date of issuance.
